5:30-7pm: Legal Issues and Documentation in Int’l Sale Transactions presented by Olga Pina, Partner, Shutts & Bowen, LLP. In this session, learn about legal issues that often present themselves with export transactions and different types of legal protection needed. Pina will review the different types of contracts for indirect and direct exporting, the advantages and disadvantages of each one, and contract terms to consider. Pina practices in the areas of corporate, securities, international business transactions and export compliance, including compliance with U.S. Treasury (OFAC) regulations relating to embargoed countries and customs seizures. She has extensive experience in corporate transactions, including cross-border joint ventures and securities issues in Latin America and serves as a member of the firm’s Cuba Task Force. 7-8:30pm: Trade Finance, presented by Daniel Pische, Senior Vice President, First American Bank. In this session, learn about risks involved in international trade, payment methods including letters of credit, and financing solutions available for our export shipments. Pische manages the bank’s growing trade finance and asset-based lending relationships and oversees the Small Business Administration preferred lending program. The bank’s expertise in Trade Finance and Asset-Based Lending was recognized by the SBA when First American Bank was awarded Export Lender of the Year in 2017.
